We are a group of writers of all levels who seek to tell our stories and write as therapy. We challenge stigma and societal assumptions of who we are and where we came from. We are your children, siblings, cousins, parents, etc.

From the BEGINNING |
Where we are now |
V.O.I.C.E. was originally conceived by Lisa Lee as a writing group for women to work through trauma. However, the group was expanded to include all genders of people who currently are or formerly have experienced homelessness. The first meeting was in December 2016 and a strong core group of writers has emerged through time.

The writers of V.O.I.C.E. have worked on poems, autobiographical stories of their experiences of homelessness, and fiction. We have previously met at HOPES, Lundsford Park, University of Nevada, Reno in the Knowledge Center, and numerous other locations. We had our first event on September 9 entitled, "Our Stories, Our Streets" and look forward to putting on more storytelling events.
